Why is a home inspection important? I’ll tell you today.
After you go under contract to purchase a home, the due diligence period starts. This is an important window of time because it’s when you need to get all of your inspections done. You have to inspect the property completely for defects. Typically, you only have 10 days to do so.
I recommend having a certified, licensed home inspector complete your inspection. They will do a thorough job, typically taking four to five hours to go through a home. I like to meet my buyers at the inspection about 30 minutes before it’s over so that they don’t distract the inspector and so that they can ask any questions about what they found.
After we get a quick recap from the inspector, they print out a full inspection report. We bring that report to the negotiating table and can use it to your advantage.
